The Insiders: In Concord, art is everywhere you look (especially tonight)
Happy happy oh my friends – it’s birthday time at Kimball Jenkins Estate! The art school/gallery is celebrating its 15th birthday tonight, and rather than sulking in its room and listening to In Utero and thinking about how parents totally don’t understand (like we did on ours), it’s having a party. Meet in the carriage house (266 N. Main St.) between 5 and 7 p.m. and check out the student/faculty exhibit, try to score some cake and watch local artist Barbara Filleul’s presentation (at 5:30 p.m.). Presents are optional (what do you get for the gallery that has everything?). For more information, visit kimballjenkins.com.
Once you’ve whetted your appetite for art (and sated your appetite for cake), grab a map and walk off that frosting on the Art Concord gallery tour. Ten local galleries are open tonight from 5 to 8; pop in and see how (and what) Concord’s hanging. Stops on the tour:
∎ Kimball-Jenkins Estate
∎ League of New Hampshire Craftsmen
∎ McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center
∎ Mill Brook Gallery
∎ New Hampshire Art Association
∎ New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association
∎ New Hampshire State Library
∎ NHTI Library Gallery
∎ Red River Theatres
∎ The Works Bakery and Cafe
Each stop will have refreshments and a gallery map. For more information, visit concordnhchamber.com.
Elsewhere, pianist (and 2012 Hunkette!) Catherine Dornin presents “Moonlight and Mystery: Music of Chopin, Debussy, Mendelssohn and Ziffrin” at Concord Community Music School (23 Wall St.) at 12:10 p.m. This Bach’s Lunch event is free; for more information, call 228-1196 or visit ccmusicschool.org.
