Police: Motorcyclist caught speeding at 130 to 152 mph
The New Hampshire State Police charged a motorcyclist with felony reckless conduct after a trooper witnessed the driver traveling at excessive speeds on Interstate 93 yesterday afternoon.
According to a press release, Edson Jose Barbosa of Stoneham, Mass., was traveling southbound on I-93 in New Hampton about 1 p.m.
Trooper 1st Class Eric Shirley was on patrol and traveling in the same direction when he saw Barbosa speeding between 130 and 152 mph in a 65 mph zone. Barbosa, 44, was also weaving in and out of traffic in a congested section of the interstate.
Due to Barbosa’s distance ahead of Shirley, the trooper did not engage the motorcyclist, according to the press release. However, through coordination between Shirley and other troopers, Barbosa was later stopped while he attempted to pay the toll fee at the Hooksett Toll Plaza.
After he was taken into custody and charged with felony reckless conduct, Barbosa made bail and was released. His arraignment date is set for July 16 in Laconia’s district court.
