UPDATE: Concord police get more than 20 reports of slashed tires

11:54 a.m.: A few Concord residents have told the police their tires were slashed as early as Saturday, O’Malley said.

Of the 21 incidents reported so far this morning, a handful of the cars were parked on Montgomery Street and a cluster were also parked near the YMCA. A few cars in the state employee parking lot off Centre Street also had their tires slashed, O’Malley said.

The police are in the process of putting together a map showing the vehicle locations.

10:41 a.m.: The police have received 21 reports of slashed tires this morning, mainly affecting cars around North State Street between Pleasant and Montgomery Streets, said Concord police Lt. Tim O’Malley.

The cars were on the street, in driveways and in parking lots, and tires were slashed with a one-inch knife. Given the volume of damage, the police believe the tire slashing was random and not targeted. The tire slashing likely occurred sometime between midnight and the early morning.

“As people are getting up to go to work they’re discovering the tires so they’re calling us,” O’Malley said. “We’ve probably received the bulk (of the calls.)”

The police are seeking any information about people who may have been walking the streets in that area last night, even if they did not appear to be suspicious, O’Malley said. People with information can call the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100.
