Hot air balloon gets caught in power lines in NH

Authorities said a hot air balloon carrying four people has gotten tangled in some power lines in Hampstead.

WMUR reported the balloon had taken off from Salem yesterday morning and was attempting to land when it got caught in the power lines about 7:15 a.m. The accident shut off power to about 3,600 customers.

UNH awarded NOAA grant for research

The University of New Hampshire has been awarded a $6 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for its ocean research.

The grant was given to the school’s Hydrographic Center, which specializes in hydrographic, ocean and coastal mapping sciences.
