The Insiders: This music festival needs no reheating
The Granite State Music Festival has more in common with pizza than you might think, most notably that they’re both just as good on the second day (and they’re both delicious with extra cheese). Today is the conclusion to the second annual go-round, with 12 bands rocking the stage, and it promises to be just as lively as the opening act. No microwave required. So who will be up there this afternoon and evening? Allow us to deliver some knowledge.
∎ Concord band Boogie on Alice kicks things off with some true local flavor at 11 a.m., bringing their funky jam style to the festival.
∎ The Fearless Ones take the stage at 1:15 p.m. in their continued quest to kickstart the jam band scene locally. Band member Tom Powley remembers playing gigs in Concord at Thumbs, a now-defunct locale, with his former band.
∎ Lowman takes the stage at 4:15 p.m. Influenced by the likes of Ben Folds and Spoon, Greg Loughman put the group together with humble hopes of simply playing music in front of a few Homo sapiens, and the results have been pleasing. “It snowballed in a way I didn’t expect,” he said.
∎ Finally, the Ryan Montbleau Band shuts things down at 7:30, probably still energized from an appearance at Bonnaroo.
