Preschool to display new space at former Dame School
East Concord Cooperative Preschool will show of its new space during an open house at the former Dame School building tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m.
The preschool is renting space from the city in the building, which has been named the Heights Community Center, joining Concord’s Park and Recreation Department.
Because the community center has a playground, the preschool can expand its program to offer full-day preschool. In order to have children in school for more than five hours there must be a playground on the premise, said Director Susan Fuller. Children 3 to 5 years old can enroll.
Fuller is excited to share a building with the Parks and Recreation Department’s senior program. She hopes to collaborate by setting up activities such as having the seniors read books to the children or letting the students trick or treat in the building at Halloween.
“There are so many possibilities,” Fuller said.
The school operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and can serve up to 20 children. Depending on enrollment for next year, it could also operate Tuesdays and Thursdays, Fuller said.
An earlier version of this article misstated the senior program that will be located in the new community center. It is the senior program run through the Parks and Recreation Department.
