BREAKING: 2,100 Concord-area Unitil customers lose power due to bird

More than 2,000 Unitil customers in Concord lost power this afternoon.

“The outage began approximately 1:15 p.m., impacting approximately 2,100 customers in the eastern part of the city,” said Unitil spokesman Alec O’Meara.

O’Meara in a later email said the outage was caused by a bird that made contact with the power lines, causing a short and opening a fuse.

As of 2:40 p.m., Unitil’s outage map showed 2,126 customers without power in the Concord area, including 2,067 in the city. Unitil announced on Twitter around 3:50 p.m. that power had been restored to all customers.

I see now that would explain it, it is very rare that we lose power in Concord. Thank you for the clarification it did not take it long to get very hot without the air conditioner on!
