The Insiders: Market Days, man marriage, mini-mermaids and a dog/doc dunk double dip
Have you gotten your fill of Market Days yet? What a coincidence – neither have we! Luckily for all of us, there’s still plenty of Market Days action to be had. Here’s just some of the stuff you can do today before the 2013 Market Days wraps up tonight:
∎ The Fire Truck Pull is going down at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Pleasant and Main streets.
∎ George Belli and the Retroactivists play in Bicentennial Square at 11 a.m., followed by Pat and the Hats at noon and Acoustisaurus at 1 p.m.
∎ The junior pie eating contest takes place in Eagle Square at 2 p.m., followed by the adult pie eating contest (no comment) at 2:30 p.m.
∎ Catch the Pitch Perfect singing competition finals in Eagle Square at 7 p.m.

Elsewhere, does the headline “Local Man Marries Self” do anything for you? If so, feel free to stop by the Pit Road Lounge at 2 p.m. to see that local man, Curtis McGill, renew his life vows to himself after winning his battle with cancer. We’ll have the full story in next week’s Insider.
If you’d rather be under the sea than out in the sun today, you may want to take in The Little Mermaid, Jr. at the Capitol Center tonight at 7. Tickets are $10 and available at ccanh.com.
Speaking of under the sea, you’ll have a chance to send veterinarians and pup-dogs alike to Davy Jones’s locker if you stop by Capital Area Veterinary Emergency Service between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. CAVES is hosting a fundraising dog wash and dunk tank, so bring your dirtiest pooch and your filthiest fastball and give those dogs and docs a much-needed respite from the heat.
