Couple closes on house in Conway, house explodes

Authorities said a couple had just closed on a house in Conway when it exploded.

Conway fire Chief Steve Solomon told WMWV radio firefighters responded shortly after 12:30 p.m. yesterday to the two-story house and found light smoke, with the house’s windows and one wall
blown out.

He said a man and
woman who had just closed
on the house were inside it on the second floor when the explosion happened. They managed to escape without injury.

The house was believed to have been unoccupied for some time.

The state fire marshal’s office is assisting with the investigation.
