The Insiders: These activity gets four thumbs up

Who’s got four thumbs and knows the coolest activities in town? These guys! (simultaneous two-person double-thumb points at selves.) We’re sure you’ve probably got like 500 weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties or baby showers to attend this weekend, but on the off chance you have a free second to kill, we can steer you in the right direction.

Local artist Melissa Ann Miller has a new exhibit hanging at McGowan Fine Art. You’ve probably seen the Concord resident’s work somewhere around town; her oil paintings, often focusing on houses, are omnipresent around town. Heck, she even dabbles in the bookmark game in conjunction with the Concord Public Library! This exhibit is a bit of a departure for her, though: She’s literally taken her work up to the next level! Many of these paintings feature just the upper portion of houses with brightly hued skies above. This includes a study of the same house at different times throughout the year. There’s also a huge Lancaster landscape that commands its own wall; you really ought to see it for yourself. The 10 Hills Ave. gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. For more information, visit mcgowanfineart.com or call 225-2515.
