$1,000 reward offered in Claremont cemetery vandalism

The police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals who damaged 75 graves at a cemetery in Claremont.

The destruction at the West Pleasant Street Cemetery is believed to have happened sometime late last week.

The Eagle-Times reported numerous stones were turned up, with several large ones in family plots knocked down and broken into pieces.

Claremont’s Department of Public Works is responsible for cemetery repairs. The damage will be paid for by taxpayers.
