The Insiders: We’re taking this column to new Heights
It’s a busy day in Concord, readers. Avid Insider fans know that today is the first Heights Community Old Home Day. Heights residents old and new, friends and family should head down to Keach Park today from noon to 4 p.m. for a day of games, food, fun and most of all – memories. The docket includes family friendly activities such as a wiffle ball game, a home-run derby (with a prize to the winner), a face-painting booth, sack races, a hula hoop contest, a beach ball relay, a balloon splat game and horseshoes. For more information, search for “Heights Community Old Home Day” on Facebook.

Elsewhere, the Miss Capital Area and Miss Capital Area’s Outstanding Teen competition takes center stage at the Concord City Auditorium tonight at 6. Its a full-on pageant – fitness, talent, evening wear and the ever popular question-and-answer period (not to mention our favorite part of pageantry – sashes, sashes, sashes). Admission is $12. For more information, call 228-2793.
Finally, there’s going to be a real sticky situation in the Walmart parking lot today from noon to 6 p.m. The Duck Tape “Rolls Across America” bus will be on hand celebrating 70 years of duct tape history. Check out the latest in runway-caliber duct tape fashion, get your photo taken with giant duct tape sculptures and share your favorite duct tape experiences and memories. This is a real thing!
