The Insiders: Kickstart a celebrated music career at Tandy’s tonight
We’ve never met any famous musicians, unless you count the time we ran into Weird Al Yankovic in line at an Arby’s. But we’ve always thought it would be cool to hang with a celebrated rock star – the parties, the travel, deafness setting in by age 50. It all sounds so glamorous.
Well, tonight is your chance to get in on the ground floor of the career of local musician Rachel Vogelzang, so when she becomes world famous you can say you knew her when. Vogelzang is hosting a kickoff to a kickstarter campaign at Tandy’s Top Shelf from 7 p.m. to midnight tonight to help fund the recording, production and distribution of her upcoming debut album, Blocks .
Vogelzang will be performing songs from the album at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., with several other musicians taking the stage in between. We’re still awaiting our invite to grab the mic for a tune or two (Note to Rachel: It’s in everyone’s best interest that said invite remains “lost.”)
There’s more in it for you than just ear candy. You can pre-order Rachel’s album and sign up for exclusive updates, experiences and content, including unreleased tracks and a visit to the studio. But we’re only coming to the studio if Ice Cube and that bottle of Coors Light from the commercials will be there.
In other musical news, The Larksong Trio will perform as part of the Musicians of Wall Street series at the Concord Community Music School tonight at 7:30. Also, Halfway to Nowhere with Mike Morris will be at True Brew Barista as part of the SNOB Film Festival at 9 p.m. And if you want to check out a flick, they’ll be playing at Red River Theatres all day.
