The Insiders: Crafts, films and just about everything in between
Are you one of those holiday shoppers that likes to beat the mad dash at the stores? Do you like to pick out that perfect individualized gift for everyone on your list? Are you just looking for something new that you haven’t seen on TV or online a million times?
If so, do we have a day on the town for you. Beginning at 9 a.m. today, you will have not just one, but two craft fairs to choose from. And if you are feeling a bit ambitious, then why not hit up both? How could you ask for a better way to kickoff the holiday season?
The Concord Hospital Annual Holiday Craft Fair will be held in conference rooms A-B and C and the 1st and 3rd floor rotundas until 3 p.m. And across town, the Merrimack County Artisans Craft Fair is at the Bektash Shrine on Pembroke Road until 2 p.m.
Between the two events, there will be close to 100 crafters on hand selling everything from jewelry and Christmas ornaments to paintings and knit items. Just think, you can finally get that scarf and mitten combination for the cold winter months ahead or the wrought iron sculpture of that dog you’ve always wanted above your mantle.
But please remember, you had to sign up for this event in order to sell crafts. So leave your folding table, cash box and tupperware full of cookies that look like famous people at home. While someone might be interested in buying one, this is neither the time nor the place.
And don’t forget about the second full day of the SNOB Film Festival. Movies will begin at noon with the final showing at 10 p.m. There is also a free event at 10:30 a.m. where filmmakers will meet with the New Hampshire Film & Television Office.
