Concord library director to retire

Concord Library Director Patricia Immen will retire in January.

City Manager Tom Aspell said last week that Immen, who has worked at the Concord Public Library for decades, has announced that she will step down.

Immen became library director in 2002, replacing former director Lou Ungarelli. But she began her work at Concord’s library in 1974, as a bookmobile clerk. She has since held positions in circulation and reference, overseeing adult services and working for one year as acting children’s librarian.

Immen did not return a message left yesterday afternoon.
