Weare man dies in I-93 crash in Windham
A Weare man was killed Wednesday evening in a crash on Interstate 93 in Windham.
According to a state police press release, Donald Galligan, 54, was driving north on I-93 about 7 p.m. in the area of Windham Scales. About a mile north of Exit 3, Galligan lost control of his Jeep Liberty because it was overloaded with roofing shingles, the police said.
As a result, the car crashed into the left-side guardrail on the interstate, swerved right across both lanes of travel and then veered left again, hitting the left-side guardrail for a second time, the police said. Galligan was then ejected from the car, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Galligan was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, the police said. His car was destroyed in the crash and had to be towed away from the scene.
Both of the northbound lanes on I-93 were closed in that area for approximately three hours while the scene was cleared. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call state police Trooper James Powers at 223-4381.
