The Insiders: Midnight Merriment in downtown Concord
Here’s a comprehensive list of all the safe, fun activities you can complete in downtown Concord at midnight during a typical day: .
Alas, that list is much longer today, thanks to the annual Midnight Merriment celebration, a holiday extravaganza of shopping and dining and other holiday-related things that end in ing. The event gets started at 5:30 p.m. and ends when the clock strikes 12, with plenty to keep you occupied in between. There will be strolling caroling groups, an appearance by Santa in the Eagle Square Atrium (from 6 to 7:30 p.m.), a chance to drop a letter in Santa’s letterbox in Bicentennial Square (we’re going to ask for our own Insider reindeer!), and children’s stories at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt from 6 to 8 p.m. And, of course, one of the annual highlights is the Concord Arts Market’s Giftopolis in the Eagle Square Atrium from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. Grab some dinner downtown and make a (mid)night of it! For a complete schedule, visit intownconcord.org/events/midnight-merriment.
And why not get started on planning tomorrow’s activities while you’re at it? Dan Zanes, a Grammy-award winning children’s musician, will be playing a pair of shows for children and adults at Concord High School to benefit the Friendly Kitchen, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cost is $10 per person, but children younger than 1 will be admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door, but can also be purchased today at Gibson’s Bookstore and Pitchfork Records .
