Sex offender charged with luring teenage girls
The police in Gilford say a registered sex offender has been charged with luring a pair of teenage girls to a secluded spot and trading alcohol for sex.
WMUR-TV reported that 37-year-old David Ferland of Laconia was charged Tuesday. The police said he contacted the girls on the internet and then used text messages to set up the encounter behind a local movie theater.
The Gilford police said the parents of a 15-year-old girl found illicit text messages on a phone and contacted authorities.
Ferland was jailed without bail. He is charged with one felony count of sexual assault against one of the 15-year-old girls. It could not immediately be learned if he had a lawyer
Ferland was convicted in 2003 of child pornography charges and sexual assault of a teenager.
