
Full name: Gary Earl Johnson
Political experience: Governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003.
Brief Biography: Johnson was born in Minot, North Dakota in 1953. He went to the University of New Mexico, graduating in 1975. During school he was a door-to-door handyman. After his success doing that, Johnson eventually became the founder of one of New Mexico's largest construction companies. He entered politics for the first time by running for governor of New Mexico in 1994. He cut the 10% annual growth in the budget by using his gubernatorial veto on half of bills in the first six months, earning him the nickname, "Governor Veto." He won re-election in 1998 and served until 2003.
Interests: According to his Facebook page, Johnson enjoys biking, skiing and climbing mountains. His favorite movie is Dr. Zhivago, and he believes in living "in the moment."
