Full name: Fred Karger

Political experience: Karger has worked for many years as a political consultant, assisting with state and local races as well as three presidential campaigns. He filed paperwork to run for president in March 2011, making him the first official Republican candidate in the 2012 race and the first openly gay man to ever seek the GOP presidential nomination.
Brief bio: According to the birth certificate posted on his campaign website, Karger was born in Illinois. He now lives in California where he worked as a actor before entering politics in the 1970s. He is the current president of Californians Against Hate, a group that opposes measures to bar same-sex marriage in the state.
