A 36-year-old man, possibly under the influence of prescription drugs, is facing charges after allegedly hitting a pedestrian at South Main and Fayette streets in Concord yesterday afternoon.

The driver, Anthony Landry of Concord, has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.

The pedestrian, a woman whose identity was not released, sustained “serious injuries,” the Concord police said. She was taken to Concord Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

Landry was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail, and is scheduled to appear in Concord’s district court on Feb. 10.

The accident remains under investigation, the police said.

Our police dept. either doesn't have the resources or could care less about traffic control. A day doesn't go by when someone doesn't try to kill me on the streets of Concord. Lately I've seen things I've never seen before. Drivers ignoring traffic lights, and stop signs, even ignoring school bus flashing red lights. What gives? I know drug busts and following gang activity at the prison are more important, but as far as I know they don't effect my health and well being as much as the idiots on our roads.
