LRGHealthcare to host health enrollment fair at Franklin Regional Hospital

With a little less than a month left to enroll for health coverage on the federal marketplace, nonprofit groups across the state are hosting events to help people go through the process and the paperwork.

Tomorrow, LRGHealthcare is hosting an enrollment fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Franklin Regional Hospital, where 10 trained assisters will be available with computers to help people enroll online.

People will also have the option to work through enrollment on their own in a semi-private area with a computer, and an assister available if needed.

To get coverage through the marketplace, which might offer subsidies or tax credits, people have to enroll in a plan and pay their first premium by March 15.

From start to finish, appointments with the assisters should take about an hour, said Ellen Cimon, director of patient services for LRGHealthcare.

People who can’t wait that long can sign up for an appointment for a smaller event.

The first large-scale event the hospital hosted drew about 80 people, and Cimon said she hopes to see a similar turnout this weekend. In total, the hospital has helped more than 200 people find out their options on the marketplace, she said.

People looking to enroll in coverage or find out what their costs might be on the marketplace should bring some information with them.

If they have tried setting up an account on HealthCare.gov before, they should bring their username and password so they can log in to the same account.

They should also bring a copy of their most recent tax return or a recent pay stub, and should know their Social Security number.

If any member of their family works, they should bring information about any health insurance offered through that job.

Assisters are also available in Franklin and at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia on Mondays and Fridays; the times of the sessions alternate every week.

On Monday, assisters will be available at New England College’s Concord location, 62 N. Main St., at 10:30 a.m., and at Concord Feminist Health Center, 38 S. Main St., at 1 p.m.

On March 11, NHTI in Concord is hosting an enrollment fair from noon to 2 p.m.

A full schedule of enrollment assistance events is available at coveringnewhampshire.org/events.
