Wood pellet shortage felt in N.H.
It’s been a long, cold winter, and some wood pellet dealers are very low on supply or completely out as they await deliveries to meet the demands of their customers.
Charles Niebling, a consultant for New England Wood Pellet in Jaffrey, told Foster’s Daily Democrat many customers bought their pellets based on their previous year’s usage. But this winter has been colder than the last few, and more people are using pellet stoves as a primary or supplemental heat source than in previous years.
A spokeswoman for Home Depot said due to high demand, regional vendors have a smaller supply of wood pellets. She said the company is working with vendors to replenish the supply.
Some stores have been limiting customers to five bags of pellets or fewer.
