Police: Car chase ends when man crashes into building
An early morning car chase ended yesterday when Nikolas Carr of Concord crashed the Honda Civic he was driving into the TDS Cable building at 11 Kearsarge Ave. in Contoocook, officials said.
The state police then apprehended Carr, 19, after a brief foot chase, according to a statement.
The incident began in Deering when officers went to check on a suspicious activity call at a mobile home park, Hillsboro Patrol Sgt. Mark Philibert said. A woman there reported missing keys, touching off a search for the car, Philibert said.
When an officer spotted the vehicle in Deering several hours later and tried to make a stop, the car “ran a red light in Hillsboro . . . and reached highway speeds on a back road,” Philibert said.
The car crossed into Hopkinton and about 2:15 a.m., State Trooper Derek Myrdek began pursuing Carr at Pine Street until the crash on Kearsarge Avenue.
Carr was wanted on warrants for violation of a protective order and criminal threatening, according to the statement. He is being held on cash bail and is awaiting arraignment on charges of resisting arrest, disobeying an officer, reckless operation and operating after suspension.
