Concord man charged in Bicentennial Square stabbing
A 28-year-old Concord man was arrested and charged with nonfatally stabbing another man about 1 a.m. Tuesday in Bicentennial Square.
Christian Economides was arrested yesterday afternoon and was charged with a felony of second-degree assault, the police said in a statement. He was initially arrested Tuesday and charged with resisting arrest and possession of controlled drugs. But the police said they lacked enough evidence at that time to connect him to the stabbing, and he was released on personal recognizance bail.
The police said the 25-year-old victim was taken to Concord Hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They said witnesses reported that the man and Economides had been in a fight.
Economides was being held on $10,000 cash bail and was scheduled to appear in Concord’s district court yesterday. The police have asked that anyone with information about the incident contact them at 225-8600, or call the regional crimeline at 226-3100.
