The Citizens Bank on South Street was robbed this morning by a man who walked to the counter and demanded cash by handing a note to the teller, according to the police.

The man, who the police say entered the bank at about 10:20 a.m., allegedly fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Concord Police Department Lt. Tim O’Malley said the man fled west toward Avon Street, then possibly left that area in a blue, four-door Honda Civic.

That vehicle, described as being a 1990s model, was last seen in the area of Pillsbury Street, according to the police.

The robber is described as being a white male, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet and 10 inches tall with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans and either hiking or construction boots. He was also wearing a black baseball cap with a logo on it, according to the police.

O’Malley said the robber did not appear to be armed. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses, he said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100.

The same bank was robbed two days before Christmas last year. That time, a man called in a fake bomb threat at Concord Hospital while another man walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding “all the big bills,” according to the police.

In August, 28-year-old Brandon Lanum pleaded guilty to bank robbery and conspiracy to commit bank robbery at U.S. District Court in Concord. He was sentenced to 96 months in prison with three years supervision upon his release.
