Two men were arrested in Franklin on Saturday for carrying loaded handguns without a license, as well as other charges, the police said.
Both men were found with guns during a traffic stop of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, the Franklin police said. John Petrelli, 28, of Ashland, was driving the vehicle, and he was arrested on charges of carrying a loaded handgun without a license and operating an unlicensed vehicle.
The other man in the vehicle was Kyle Deveau, 21, of Alexandria. He was also arrested on charges of carrying a loaded handgun without a license, as well as possession of a controlled drug, in the form of pills the police suspected to be oxycodone, the police said.
Both were arraigned in Franklin’s district court Tuesday. Petrelli was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. Deveau’s bail was set at $3,000 cash, and he will have a probable cause hearing Tuesday.
