This is about politics and politics by Democrats in Congress who did not agree with the Citizens United decision, sent a letter to the IRS requesting this. Democrats are not appalled, they will do anything to stay in power. Doing the right thing be damned to progressives.
As far as the IRS targeting the T party, it would behove the non-progressives - regressives, to remember that the TP was more of a GOP problem than a democratic one. You can't pigeon hole this issue along your usuall partisan lines. Better question, just why are "political" groups entitled to tax-exempt status?
Better question...why just a headline of a story gets so many comments. Think the Monitor would notice and correct it?
Better question is why the IRS thinks they have the power to do this. Was not just TP they went after, also Religious Groups and Pro Life Groups and donors to the Rep Party.
That is a lot of power for a govt dept. Lets see who they go after for health care.
If men were angels, no government would be necessary. Holder was asked today if he was aware the US had a Constitution. He said he didnt know.
HEADLINE you will never read here......From Healthcare IT News: The Internal Revenue Service is now facing a class action lawsuit over allegations that it improperly accessed and stole the health records of some 10 million Americans, including medical records of all California state judges. According to a report by Courthousenews.com, an unnamed HIPAA-covered entity in California is suing the IRS,.....this is the same IRS that the democrats on a 100% partisan vote created the ObamaKare debaucle that gave the IRS the enforcement job....time to be very afraid of BIG Govt created by democrats
Sail, please note the absence of progressives posting here. it is all telling, progressives like the media is staying away from this story. Most likely because they go along with it.
Bush Started all this Garbage you know !!!!
No, I don't think so. This has nothing to do with the Patriot Act.
Funny...the Tea party didnt even exist during the Bush presidency. Duly noted and rejected.
Actually, I believe it was Nixon Nhdriver.
Didn't Shaheen sign a letter demanding the IRS harass these groups??
YES YES YES
It is hard to believe what any government agency or office says. The last I heard there were four different Congressional committees being formed to investigate Benghazi, not sure how many will be formed to investigate IRS dealings on top of the FBI investigation. How do we believe what the government says when the members of Congress do not even trust each other to tell the truth so they have to have multiple committees investigating the same issue?
Agree Jim. And if you watch the hearings you will see what goes on there. If it is a Dem being questioned like Hillary, the Dems on the committee will ask her questions like, how many people do you have working for you, and isn't it difficult to be on top of everything. She smiles and says, That is a great question.
Reps ask tough questions, and Hillary gets upset and takes the I am offended stance. I am sure that happens when a Rep is getting grilled.
When all else fails, blame the lower level employee. Thus the top gun is removed from responsibility.
We get no answers unless we have whistleblowers.
Ever notice when no one in Congress is to blame the battle cry is "heads will roll", they want names so those involved can be "fired". When Congress is involved the answer is always "let’s don't focus on the person, we need to fix the problem". The real outcry here is because it's the politicians donation money that is being messed with, more non-profits means more money raising for them. Both sides.
Oh yes the IRS, you know the folks that want access to all your records so they can make sure you are buying health insurance. Trust your government folks, they will not abuse their power and stomp on your rights!
Seems to be a lot of things lately going on that is looking pretty bad with the way our govt is conducting itself. Incompetence, power grabbing, and disrespect for the rights of the people they work for, seems to be the norm.
Wonder how the folks will manage to get creative and try and keep the folks in the dark about what is going on. The media cannot look the other way anymore. The pile is geting bigger and bigger every day. At some point I would assume the media will have no choice but to lift the veil of protection and start reporting what is actually going on. They have been known to turn on folks they build up and then knock them down.
If the story was here, you would also find out that Jewish groups were also targeted and any group which used the words Constitution and Freedom. Also groups which made statements like: "make the United States a better place". Now, where is the outrage from the Progressives? The Monitor? The NY Times? Today they ran a story on the AP.....we have proof that Benghazi was a coverup. How long until people wake up? I read yesterday tat the press knew about this story since 2011. Where is the outrage?
Nice headline. Couldnt bring themselves to write the details. Bush's fault..move along now.
