Two face drug charges after being stopped on interstate in Concord

Two men face drug charges after being stopped by the state police on Interstate 93 in Concord yesterday afternoon.

According to a release from the state police, a trooper pulled over a black Toyota Corolla he observed driving erratically southbound on I-93 just above the Hooksett toll plaza shortly before 2 p.m.

The driver, George Cavis, 28, of Danbury was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a field sobriety test, according to the release.

“Further investigation led to the discovery of what is believed to be heroin, a small amount of marijuana, bags, scales, needles and more than $1,500 in cash inside the car and on his person,” the release said.

As a result, Cavis also faces a charge of possession of controlled drugs with intent to sell, as does a passenger in the car, Geoffrey McLaughlin, 29, of Danbury.

Both men were released on personal recognizance, the state police said, are scheduled to be arraigned in Hooksett’s district court Sept. 18.
