12:09 p.m.: A “badly decomposed” body was discovered early this morning in the woods along Route 106, according to the Concord police.
Authorities were tipped off about the body sometime before sunrise by a person walking in the woods, Lt. Tim O’Malley said.
The police have yet to identify the body, and O’Malley would not provide further specifics on its physical state. It’s unclear how long it has been there, O’Malley said.
A medical examiners van was at the scene, across from the south Walmart entrance, late this morning. Officers there deferred all questions to O’Malley.
As of 11 a.m., O’Malley said he had not heard whether the body had been removed and transported for further examination.
O’Malley said he was unaware of any recent missing persons reports, or any other criminal activity that may shed light on the find. He said officers were searching for some form of identification on or near the body.
An investigation into the discovery is ongoing.
