VIDEO: Police search for suspects in downtown Concord mugging

The state police are searching for two suspects who allegedly mugged a woman about 8 Thursday night in downtown Concord.

The woman was getting into her car in the legislative parking garage on Storrs Street when two men violently opened her door, “pushed her against the seat, struck her several times, and stole her purse,” the police said in a statement yesterday.

The woman, whom the police have not identified but who a security official at the legislative building said was not a state employee, told officers that the men fled on foot. She suffered bruising and scratches, but declined medical treatment, the police said.

The police interviewed several people in the area and searched the car for evidence, but were unable to locate a suspect. A police dog was also used to search the area near the garage.

An investigation remains open and anyone with information about the incident may contact detective Timothy Beers at 271-3636.
