Man sought in bike theft at S&W Sports

The Concord police are looking for a man who rode a bicycle up to S&W Sports on South Main Street on the afternoon of Oct. 12, leaned it against a post – and rode off on a customer’s bicycle worth $5,400.

The stolen bike, a Trek Slash9, is black and chrome with FOX racing forks. The owner was at the shop when the bike was taken, the police said.

“Witnesses described the suspect as 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-1,” the police said in a press release, “medium build, wearing camouflage ‘BDU’-style pants, black/dark blue jacket, long unkempt hair and a short unkempt beard.”

The suspect was last seen riding north on South Main Street, the police said, having put a tag from the customer’s bike in his right jacket pocket.

Anyone who has information relative to any criminal incident is asked to call the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100, or submit information online at, or text TIP234 and a

$5,400? Did he leave the keys in it?
