Renewal an option for canceled N.H. insurance plans

About 22,000 New Hampshire residents have been notified that their individual health insurance plans are being discontinued because they don’t comply with the federal health care overhaul law, but they can keep their benefits for another year if they renew early.

Paula Rogers of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire told lawmakers yesterday that customers who renew by Nov. 15 can extend their coverage until Dec. 1, 2014. However, tax credits that act like a discount on premiums are only available for those purchasing new plans through the online insurance market created by the federal law.

Because of the problems with the federal HealthCare.gov site, Rogers said Anthem can’t say how many people have purchased plans in New Hampshire since enrollment opened Oct. 1.

TheBridges: You have not seen anything yet. This has been a bad plan since day one. How do like being lied to. The Republicans tried to pass a bill preventing loss of personal insurance plans and the Democrats voted it down. So, when you vote send Shaheen, Kuster, Carol OShea Porter and the rest of them down the road. I am just amazed at what is going on. Don't listen to their spin job and running around trying now to look good. They need to go. For heavens sake N.H. don't vote these people back into office. Hang on to your saddle horn, as you have seen just the tip of the iceberg. Obamacare is law, upheld by the Supreme Court, so only way to handle it is start over and line by line fix it.

So much for the President's promise that, "If you like your plan you can keep your plan, PERIOD" . We are among these 22,000 NH residents losing their policies. Not only do we lose our plan, we lose our doctor and the LEAST expensive plan we can now purchase is MORE THAN TWICE THE COST.And if you think this is not going to affect you because you have insurance provided through your employer THINK AGAIN. The Administration admitted in 2010 that over 90 million Americans with employer sponsored health insurance will also be losing their insurance.WAKE UP NEW HAMPSHIRE AND STOP OBAMACARE.
