Police investigate reports of items stolen from unlocked vehicles, homes

The Bow police are investigating a string of nine thefts from vehicles and two home burglaries that have occurred over the last several months.

Police Chief Erin Commerford said the thefts could be related, but it is too difficult to draw a clear connection between all the reports at this point.

“What they’re taking is similar . . . (and) they’re occurring at the same times,” said Commerford. “The incidentals appear to be similar, but obviously, you can look at the locations and tell that they’re all over town, which isn’t typically common when they’re related. That’s obviously a lot of travel for someone.”

Since Sept. 1, the police have received nine reports of thefts from vehicles – eight involving vehicles that were parked in driveways and one involving a vehicle that was parked in an unlocked garage, according to a press release.

All of those vehicles were unlocked at the time of the thefts, which the police said all occurred between about 4 and 6 a.m.

“Items taken involve loose coin, rolled coin and certain amounts of paper currency,” according to the release.

The Bow police also received two reports of residential burglaries, one Oct. 25 on Bow Center Road and the other Nov. 6 on Hooksett Turnpike. Firearms and a computer were reported stolen from one home, and a computer and electronic equipment were reported stolen from another.

Both houses were unlocked, the police said, and both were reported to have taken place during the daytime or early evening hours.

Commerford said no damage to either the vehicles or the homes has been reported. Anyone with information about these crimes is encouraged to call the Bow Police Department at 228-0511.

“The Bow Police Department also strongly encourages people to always lock unattended vehicles and always lock residences even when home,” the press release states.
