Manchester man arrested for drunken driving on I-93 in Bow

A Manchester man was arrested for drunken driving in Bow early yesterday after crashing into several objects along Interstate 89 southbound.

Francisco Murillo Velasquez, 24, was charged with driving while intoxicated and conduct after an arrest. He is due in Concord’s district court Dec. 2 for an arraignment.

Just after 2 a.m. yesterday, New Hampshire State Trooper Douglas Schack responded to an accident near Exit 1 on I-89. According to state police, Velasquez likely veered right off the highway, where he struck a light post and another state sign before veering back across the highway and hitting the barrier numerous times. After that, the driver struck another sign and the car went down an embankment. He then attempted to get back onto the road, the police said.

The police determined Velasquez was intoxicated after several field sobriety tests. The state police are still investigating the crash.
