The cause of a Sunday night house fire at 64 Abijah Bridge Road in Weare is under investigation, according to fire Chief Robert Vezina.

The fire was reported just before 11 p.m. Sunday, Vezina said in a press release. Lt. Nik McCulloch reached the home, a two-story Cape, within five minutes and called in a second alarm.

The living room floor had collapsed, hampering the search for occupants, but firefighters confirmed there was no one home.

“The fire was brought under control in about an hour,” Vezina said. “Damage to the house and contents was significant.”

Firefighters from Goffstown, New Boston, Henniker, Dunbarton and Bow assisted.
