Crews extinguish fire in free-standing garage in Concord

Flames destroyed a free-standing garage on Walker Street yesterday afternoon, Concord fire Chief Dan Andrus said.

The Concord Fire Department got a call about the fire at 55 Walker St. about 4:10 p.m. Crews had the blaze under control within minutes, Andrus said.

The homeowners were nearby when the fire started, but no one was injured. The house, about 10 feet away from the garage, did not catch fire and only suffered “a little bubbling of the paint,” Andrus said.

Concord’s fire prevention staff is conducting an investigation into the cause.
