Deerfield man dies in early morning shed fire
A 57-year-old Deerfield man died early yesterday morning in a fire that engulfed the shed in which he had been living, Deerfield fire Chief Mark Tibbetts said.
The state fire marshal’s office was investigating the cause of the fire, which broke out about 4 a.m., but no criminal behavior was suspected, Tibbetts said. Authorities had not yet released the name of the man last night.
Tibbetts said he knew the man was living in the area, but had thought he was residing in an adjacent home, which was damaged in the blaze. He said there had been a small heater in the shed, but that it had been unplugged at the time.
