Manchester man held without bail in stabbing death of wife

New Hampshire’s attorney general said a 46-year-old Manchester woman died of multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Fifty-three-year-old John Hogarty is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, 46-year-old Michelle Hogarty.

Michelle Hogarty was found dead in her Manchester home Wednesday. Senior Assistant Attorney General Susan Morrell said a 911 call was placed from the Hogarty home early Wednesday morning.

John Hogarty was arraigned Thursday and is scheduled to return to court May 14 for a hearing on the evidence.

Dr. Thomas Andrew – New Hampshire’s chief medical examiner – determined that Michelle Hogarty died of multiple stab and slash wounds to the neck and deemed her death a homicide.
