Barnstead hiker rescued from Cannon Mountain
Officials rescued a hiker who slipped and hit his head while climbing down Cannon Mountain in Franconia on Saturday.
Fish and Game officials said William Moody, 69, of Center Barnstead, was hiking with family members down the Kinsman Ridge Trail on Cannon Mountain when he slipped on a granite slab and slid about 12 feet. Moody hit his head and face on a rock.
Moody was hiking with a family member who is an EMT who was able to help him immediately after he fell, according to a release from the state Fish and Game Department. A rescue team was called to assist Moody in the 1-mile descent to the trailhead parking lot by 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
Officials said Moody was transported to Littleton Regional Hospital.
