Merrimack Valley principal warns of fraudulent fundraising attempts

The Concord Police are investigating fraudulent attempts to raise money for Merrimack Valley High School via door-to-door solicitations.

Principal Mike Jette sent an email yesterday saying at least three people in Penacook have reported someone knocking on their door asking for donations on behalf of the school, sometimes for a food drive. These activities are not related to Merrimack Valley High School, which does not have its students participate in door-to-door fundraisers, Jette said.

Jette also said a company called “Sports Media” has been contacting area businesses offering to sell ads for Merrimack Valley sports posters. This business is also not affiliated with the school, he said.

The school is now developing a webpage that will list all legitimate school fundraisers going on at a given time.

Anyone with information can contact the Concord Police at 225-8600.
