Newfound Area School District names interim superintendent
Dr. Phil McCormack will assume the role of interim superintendent for the Newfound Area School District today, filling in for Marie Ross, who has been on medical leave for a month.
McCormack previously served as superintendent of the Inter-lakes School District, which he retired from in June. He replaces Eric Chase, principal of the Newfound Memorial Middle School, who had been serving as acting superintendent since Ross’s illness was announced.
Ross’s anticipated return is not known at this time, according to a release from the district, and her illness has not been released. The SAU 4 board chose to appoint McCormack so that Chase could return his full attention to his duties as principal, according to a release.
“The Board wishes to express a profound and sincere appreciation to Mr. Chase for both being able and willing to immediately help out the District,” said SAU 4 Board Chairman Vincent Paul Migliore in the release.
McCormack also served as superintendent in Keene for 15 years.
“We are thrilled to have such an experienced and well-regarded individual as Dr. McCormack available to assist us during this time,” Migliore said.
