Dunbarton to welcome new principal

The Dunbarton School Board has hired a new principal to replace Carol Thibaudeau, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Owen Harrington, an assistant principal at Hampstead elementary and middle schools, will take over as elementary school principal July 1. In addition to his administrative background, Harrington also has teaching experience and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Rivier College.

“We are excited to welcome Owen to the Dunbarton community,” said school board Chairman Rene Ouellet. “His experiences in curriculum, instruction and administration make him an excellent candidate for our school.”

Harrington has been an assistant principal since 2006. Before that, he was a teacher in the Litchfield School District. He was selected after a lengthy search involving school board members, teachers, support staff, administration and community members, according to district Superintendent Stacy Buckley.

Thibaudeau has been at Dunbarton Elementary School since the 2008-09 school year.
