Raeleen J. Szymbor

Raeleen J. Szymbor, 70, of Concord, passed away suddenly Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

She was born May 13, 1942 in Concord. She was the daughter of the late Reginald C. and Flora B. Follansbee.

She graduated from Concord High School in 1961 and married Frederick J. Caldwell shortly after graduation. She worked as a switchboard operator and also worked for the state of New Hampshire as an administrative assistant for many years. She retired from the state in 1996.

Raeleen was very active throughout her life. She engaged in many activities such as square dancing, horse shoes and bowling, in which she won many awards.

She was a breast cancer survivor of 12 years. She loved spending quality time with her children. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt and grandmother who loved life, family and the Lord.

Later in life, she married Anthony J. Szymbor of Gonic, to whom she was married for 10 years. They were members of the Jester’s Square Dance Club in Somersworth where they served as presidents and class advisors for three years.

She left us with many fond and happy memories and her wonderful sense of humor and caring nature will be greatly missed, but always remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughter Cynthia E. Blais and her husband, William, of Weare; and her son Steven M. Caldwell of Concord; her stepson John Szymbor and his wife, Catherine, of Sanford, Maine; and by her former husband Frederick Caldwell. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard Follansbee and his companion, Pam Woods of Concord and Robert Follansbee of Oregon; by one sister, Jean Gage of Concord; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and numerous friends and acquaintances.

She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Szymbor; a son Frederick Caldwell Jr.; a step-daughter Kimberly Matthews; two brothers Reginald and David Follansbee; and by three sisters, Ruth, Lucille and Gladys Follansbee.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.

The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements.
