UNH’s Goumas named Hockey East Player of the Week

Goumas honored

Kevin Goumas, a forward on the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team, was named Hockey East Player of the Week for his performance during the Wildcats’ three-point weekend in Colorado.

Goumas helped UNH tie Colorado College, 4-4, and defeat then-No. 2 Denver, 6-4. He had two assists in the tie, and erupted for a hat trick and two assists in the victory, including both the game-tying and game-winning goals. He’s now leading Hockey East in points and assists, and the Wildcats rose to take Denver’s place at No. 2 in the national polls.

Goumas is the first UNH forward to win the honor since Dalton Speelman took it Oct. 15.
