The Insiders: Turns out Waldo has been in downtown Concord this whole time
Here’s hoping you survived the first two-thirds of the July 4 weekend (and have returned to a state of relative dryness following Friday’s waterlogging). Today should most definitely be a day of rest and relaxation, so we dug up an activity you can do on your own time over the next few weeks. It’s perfect, especially if you love trying to find tiny cardboard people in striped sweaters!
The Where’s Waldo scavenger hunt has returned to downtown Concord for it s third go-round. And the best part? Everyone’s eligible, since it’s open to those between the ages of zero and 100 (though if you are older than that, I doubt you’d be turned away. And if you are younger than that and reading this, we’d love to do a feature story on you).
Stop in to the participating businesses to pick up a passport, and then hunt down the tiny Waldos. If you get 10 store stamps or signatures, you’ll receive an “I Found Waldo button” and $1 off coupon. If you gather 20 or more stamps or signatures, you’ll be able to enter the prize drawing, which will be held July 31 at Gibson’s Bookstore.
The original plan called for finding real Waldos, but that was rejected when it was discovered that leaving actual people in places without food or water for a month is considered inhumane. Also, nobody wanted to buy that many sweaters.
Anyway, visit gibsonsbook store.com/event/wheres-waldo -2014 for a complete list of participating businesses and get hunting.
