Hall Street armed robbery suspect arrested after weeks-long search

After more than three weeks hiding from the police, a Concord man was arrested yesterday in connection with an armed robbery last month on Hall Street, the police said.

Cory Porter, 28, of Concord, was arrested by the police and U.S. Marshals just after 11 yesterday morning at a residence in Concord, said Concord police Sgt. Cori Casey. He declined to say where Porter was arrested, saying the police received a tip through the Concord Regional Crimeline and didn’t want to jeopardize the anonymity of the caller.

Porter is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, warrants that were drawn up Oct. 11, the day of the armed robbery. According to the police, Porter and three others conspired to ambush and rob a couple of drugs.

The group knew the couple would be walking on Hall Street, and Porter and one of the suspects – Sarah Patz, 32, of Concord – hid in some bushes, the police said.

Later, Porter put a gun to the man’s head and Patz held a knife to the woman, the police said.

The two other suspects – Angela Porter, 31, and James Hunter, 28, both of Concord – stayed in a car and alerted Patz and Cory Porter as the couple approached, the police said.

All four suspects fled, but the police located and arrested Angela Porter, Hunter and Patz that day. Cory Porter got away, the police said.

The tip that led to Porter’s arrest came in yesterday morning, Casey said. The police contacted the Marshals, and Porter was arrested without incident, Casey said.

Porter was held pending an arraignment this morning in Concord’s district court.
