Adults, teenagers face charges related to underage drinking in Gilford
Two Gilford residents were arrested on charges of facilitating an underage drinking party Saturday night, the Gilford police said in a release. Twenty-three teenagers were also arrested on charges of underage possession and intoxication.
Just before 11 p.m. that night, the police responded to reports of underage drinking at 128 Yasmin Drive. Several people ran into the home when officers approached, and empty and partially consumed alcoholic beverages were on the lawn and inside the house, the release said. When the police approached the door, one co-tenant refused them entrance, but another later provided consent, the release said. The police found a large amount of alcohol at the scene as well as marijuana.
Between 40 and 50 teenagers were in the home. Some were released to their parents at the scene and 23 others were taken to the Gilford Police Department. They were all released and will be arraigned in Laconia’s district court March 7. Some of the teenagers who were released to their parents at the scene were also charged and will be arraigned, the release said.
The New Hampshire State Police assisted the Gilford Police Department with the call.
