Police brief Concord City Council on safety operations

The Concord City Council was briefed by the police chief last night on emergency safety operations. After the meeting police Chief John Duval said there is no public safety threat.

The council held a nonpublic meeting for nearly an hour. Fourteen of the councilors were in attendance; Ward 8 Councilor Dick Patten was not present. After the meeting, several councilors declined to comment on their discussion. Mayor Jim Bouley referred comments to Duval.

Duval said he briefed the council on “operational concerns” but couldn’t comment on the nature of those concerns. He said the public was not at risk and that the briefing was not related to the bombings in Boston.

“The public at large has no reason to be concerned,” Duval said. “There is no imminent threat to the community.”
