The Insiders: Have some pork, with a side of pork
Porkfest. Porkfest. PORKFEST! The Grace Episcopal Church’s annual fundraiser is back for its fourth year! Head down to Merrill Park between noon and 2:30 p.m. for a heaping helping of pork with all the fixin’s. There will be music, games and raffles – but most of all, pork! The event is a fundraiser for the church’s Take-A-Tote program, which delivers bags of food to needy local schoolchildren. Everybody eats at the Porkfest! For more information, visit concordporkfest.com.
Elsewhere, the 28th annual Concord Model Railroad Show takes over Everett Arena today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. See local model railroad enthusiasts’ finest offerings in the world of tiny trains, twisted tracks and our favorite: the little model bystanders! What do they do when the lights are out and the trains stop running? WE MUST KNOW! Plus, there are train dealers, door prizes, food and a white elephant table (seems kind of messed up to make a table out of one of the world’s last remaining white elephants, but hey, to each their own). Entry fee is $5 for adults, 12 and under free with an adult (maximum of $12 per family). For more information, visit trainweb.org/cmrc.
Lady softballers – today is your chance to try out for the Concord Lady Cannons travel team. Ages 12-15 can try out for the prestigious squad from noon to 2 p.m. at the Concord Sports Center; ages 16-18 try out from 3 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 944-6445.
